For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of hearing Gypsy Carns music yet you are in for a real treat. The Watchman is his 8th indie release and this will be the 4th release of his that I've had the pleasure of reviewing.
While the previous releases I reviewed were more blues then rock this one is the exact opposite. Right from track-1, "The Battle Rages On" this release is packed with hard driving rock songs that feature drum beats that shake the ground along with wailing guitars. Don't fear though fans of the blues on track's 8, 9 10 and 12 ( "Serchin'", End of the Age", "Pray for Love", "Save Jerusalem") you'll find Gypsy's dobro infused blues rock sound.
Gypsy's vocals are gritty and exude wisdom. While Gypsy's look may seem to be more suited for riding on a Harley Davidson motorcycle then preaching make no mistake this man truly believes in what he's singing about.
The message found on The Watchman deals with the end times. Gypsy got his inspiration for this release while on a trip to the city of Jerusalem in Israel where he delivered a message on the subject. While there he also visited the Wailing Wall and placed the lyrics from the songs, "12 Rainbows", and "Sound The Trumpet" in the wall after which he walked back and forth several times reciting several bible verses.
You need to get this latest release from Gypsy whether you're a spiritual person or not. The music found on The Watchman will both entertain you and open your mind up to thinking about the messages that are found in the song's lyrics. To me that's a win, win situation.
