New Video Release!!!
Gypsy and long time collaborator Tabby Crabb have completed the 3rd video from this new record. The song "The Long Count 2012" discusses the impending Mayan prophecy that the world ends on December 21, 2012. The video was edited at Flatwood Studios in Leslie, GA (www.tabbycrabb.com) by master cinematographer Tabby "Zeb" Crabb. Footage was shot at the WGBC television station in Meridian, MS by producer Jeremy Lee. Gypsy brings home the point in the last verse that the Bible says only the Father in Heaven, YHWH, knows when the end will come - taken from Matthew 24:36. Enjoy this new release on the VIDEO section of this website or on YouTube under Gypsy Carns - AZA9.
The Sucarnochee Revue
Friday Night at the Temple Theatre in Meridian, MS was a great event, The Sucarnochee Revue. Playing to a packed house this is a Grand Ole Opry style show, taped for radio and videoed for release in Australia. This great event is hosted by Jackey Jack White who also performs. The theme this week was the British Invasion complete with The Beatles! RUBBER SOUL headlined the event, a real life Beatle tribute band, down to the amps, guitars, songs, and outfits. Drummer David Zettler was an outright perfect fit for Ringo playing the heck out of the drums, complete with head shaking and perfect timing. Mississippi Chris Sharp performed his brand of folk, jug-time, hillbilly music showcasing banjo, dobro, upright bass, guitar, and some excellent vocals. Caroline Carns was in attendance - real British Royalty from the 60's and 70's music scene in London. Britt Gully and The Water Mocassins brought the house down with the Rolling Stones classic "It's All Over Now" and the Rod Stewert gem "Reason To Believe." Gypsy was fortunate enough to have the Water Mocassins work with him on "The Last Time" and "Gloria" where The Blues Preacher let the Powerslide do the talking! It was a great night and a great event. Special thanks to Steve Gillespie from the Meridian Star - Meridian 360 - for the most excellent plug in the newspaper and his continued support of local music in Meridian - thanks bro!!!
Jukin' with KM
One of the last real Juke Joints in the south is Gip's Juke Joint located in Bessemer, Alabama. Gypsy travelled to perform with his long time friend and musical protege' KM Williams and TrainWreck. Gypsy joined in on Powerslide and Electric 12 string wah wah - the evening was a stone cold juke. Plenty of Christian Blues, classics, and even some other world music made up on the spot. Check on the photo section for more highlights. Go KM!!
Powerslide
Peavey Electronics has introduced a new instrument called the POWERSLIDE. Now any guitarist; bottleneck, slide, dobro, pedal steel, bluegrass, or the novice; can wail on the slide guitar. Peavey asked Gypsy if he would provide his talents for the Demo Video. You can view the action on the VIDEO segment of this website or tune into YOUTube under PeaveyPowerSlide - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXuNbxXbVy8
8/13/09 R.I.P. Les Paul
Les Paul, the guitar virtuoso and inventor who revolutionized music and created rock 'n' roll as surely as Elvis Presley and the Beatles by developing the solid-body electric guitar and multitrack recording, died Thursday at age 94. I have known Les for over 30 years through my association with Gibson Guitars. We first met at a Thanksgiving Party in 1976 when he came to Nashville to perform for the factory workers. That was the first time I had seen a duo of guitar and drums. Working for Gibson I had the privilidge to work on varoius events with Les for three decades, he was always full of piss and vinegar. He kept his humor up until the end and gigged until the day he died. The world mourns the loss of a great inventor, musician, and man.
